Alphons Geerlings LL.M. a guest on Podcast Jong Juridisch
25 November 2024It is always nice to get an invitation from two young lawyers to talk about trademark law, de Merkplaats and entrepreneurship. Last week the time had come.
Alphons Geerlings LL.M., the director and founder of de Merkplaats, as a guest in the popular podcast Jong Juridisch, presented by Hidde Bruinsma and Casper de Jong of Recht in je Oor. This weekly live show, broadcast on national radio (90.5 to 90.7 FM), focuses on making legal topics understandable to adolescents.
In the episode Alphons talks, with passion,
about the fundamentals of trademark law,
the establishment of de Merkplaats® and
CC Proof® and the essence of his vision of
entrepreneurship.
This is also how listeners came to think of the famous Folies Bergère, the famous nightclub in Paris. The occasion was the beer mark painted on Édouard Manet's masterful painting Un bar aux Folies Bergère.
That beer bottle can be seen in the right corner of the painting.
And that brings us immediately to the foundation of modern trademark law. In England, official trademark registration began in 1875 with the introduction of the “Trademark Act,” which made it possible to officially record a trademark.
